Patchouli is an earthy, powerfully aromatic oil used for generations for its soothing and calming effects. When used regularly, patchouli oil has been known to have a dramatic effect on self-esteem, which can improve one's performance in a wide variety of social situations.
Patchouli oil is also well-known for its antibacterial effects and its ability to help balance the skin (particularly aged or dry skin). When applied to damaged skin or wounds, it has also been shown to drastically speed up the body's natural healing process.
Uses & Information – Patchouli Essential Oil:
Properties: Patchouli essential oil is a high viscosity oil that may remind you of honey as it drips out of the bottle. This rich, earthy, distinctly scented oil has been known to help with boosting the immune system, relieving inflammation, fever, negative moods, detoxifying, eliminating body odor, and acts as an aphrodisiac. Additionally, patchouli oil has antifungal properties along with promoting skin and hair health. This oil is best known for easing symptoms of eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis. If you need an all natural remedy for insects, patchouli essential oil is said to help rid these pests. *If you have difficulty getting it out of the euro dropper, we recommend warming the oil under warm water prior to use, or using a safety pin or toothpick to puncture the euro dropper hole to allow for easier dispensing.
History/Fun Fact:Light patchouli oil is aged in stainless steel while dark patchouli oil is aged in cast iron. As the oil ages, the nascent yellow color morphs into a light viscous brown color and develops it’s the distinctly unique aroma. Patchouli is mostly grown in Indonesia and was wildly popular in the 1960s and 1970s among the hippies and was closely associated with the Hare Krishna movement. Patchouli essential oil is used in the perfume industry, with extensive use in modern high-class perfumes.
Safety and contraindications: None known. Patchouli oil is non-toxic, non-irritant, and non-sensitizing and does not require a dermaluse restriction. For topical application, we recommend diluting with a carrier oil of your choice. Take note that although its scent is sweet and herbaceous, the long-lasting aroma may be too strong for some.
Child Safety: Patchouli essential oil is generally safe for children when diluted.

How do I use the Essential Oils?
Essential oils can be used in so many different ways such as for mood lifting, allergies, cold/flu symptoms, and sleeping by diffusing the oils in an oil diffuser. They can be used topically for things such as muscle pain relief, skin toning, hair strengthening, and cleaning just to name a few. If you want to use the oils for any medical purposes we recommend you always consult a physician or licensed aroma therapist before use. You can contact our Customer Support Team to help you find the best uses to suit your needs.
How do you extract the Essential Oils?
The majority of our oils are extracted by Steam Distillation.
Can I use the oil directly on my skin?
Yes, however we always recommend you do a patch test before using any undiluted Essential Oil on your skin. To do a patch test you will want to place a small amount of the undiluted oil on the inside of your wrist or behind your ear, because the skin is thinner than the rest of the body and more sensitive. If there is no reaction within 15 minutes you should be able to use the oil topically without a carrier oil or lotion. If you have a reaction try diluting the oil with a carrier oil or lotion then do the patch test again. This will cut down the strength of the oil so it may be less irritating.
What type of carrier oil can I use? Is there anything else I can use besides carrier oil?
You can use JoJoba oil, Fractionated Coconut oil, and plain unscented lotion. If you are using the Essential Oil in a massage the JoJoba oil works best. If you are looking for a moisturizer the Coconut oil or lotion works best.
