Most Bergamot cultivated is grown in the Calabrian area of Italy on the Ionian Sea. Bergamot is a very funny looking fruit, with a verdant bubbly skin that the essential oils are hidden in.

• Possible/suggested uses: Are you affected by the seasons? Some of us need a bright pick me up for dreary winter days...Then bergamot is it! Even if you are not affected, we all need that bright burst of citrus, love it even more by mixing with Key Lime, Clementine and Wild Orange for a zingy treat! Pair it with some Earl Grey tea and you are sailing on a Citrus Dream.
• Blends Well With: petitgrain, neroli, mandarin, clementine, sandalwood, lemon, wild orange, cypriol, cinnamon, cardamom, lavender, clary sage, ylang ylang, rose, jasmine, cedarwood, key lime, geranium, patchouli, vetiver, coriander, nutmeg, frankincense and cypress.
• Safety and contra-indications:  Bergamot is photo-sensitive to most, so you definitely need to mix it with a carrier and not wear it if you plan on sunbathing or a day at the beach. As an alternative use bergamot with some jojoba oil and put a little bit in your hair.
• Child Safety: Overall bergamot is good for children, but for babies a diffuser is a good use. Remember unless you get the bergaptene free version, you need to be careful not to use even 12 hours before you go in the sun. So, for kids pick something less photo-sensitive.
