Clove Essential Oil
Along with cinnamon, clove oil makes up the other half of your typical autumnal bouquet. It also has the highest ORAC rating, meaning no single natural ingredient can compete with its antioxidant potency. This is important of course, as oxidation leads to cell-damaging free radicals.
When applied to the skin, clove oil stimulates the joints as well as the lymphatic and circulatory system, neutralizing the pain of throbbing nerves. This is the main reason why you tend to see it in dental care products. Simply sniffing cloves can help increase libido and clear your mind of unwanted thoughts, which is why we all tend to get so happy when we smell the "scents of fall."
You can make a potpourri with clove, cardamom, ginger, cinnamon and orange with dried plant parts and herbs and the essential oils...divine! Just refresh when the aroma gets a little soft. As with all spice oils it has been employed to help support the digestive system and to aid in digestive complaints.
Safety and contra-indications: Clove is extremely potent and is way too strong to be used neat (undiluted with a carrier), and should never be used in more than a .5 % dilution. Other oils listed above can be added to it to dilute it as well.
