Well… the holidays are over. They were wonderful, weren’t they? But now what? It’s still cold out and there isn’t much going on in the way of family get-togethers or parties. For many people, this is the time when winter blues can kick in.

There’s a big difference between the regular wintertime blues and a much more serious condition known as SAD, or Seasonal Affective Disorder. This disorder is defined by prolonged feelings of anxiety, lethargy, and a poor mood. It’s estimated that about 500,000 people suffer from symptoms of SAD during the darkest of winter months. Generally, symptoms will lift in early April, but what to do until then…?

Believe it or not, essential oils may be able to help if you notice that you are experiencing any of these symptoms:

Depression: Feelings of low self-esteem, despair, apathy, and a sense of unhappiness.
Anxiety: An inability to handle stress levels, and an overall feeling of tension.
Mood Swings/Abnormal Mood: Extreme changes in mood with periods of mania, abnormal highs and lows.

Add just a few drops to a warm bath or to your diffuser to gain the mood-boosting benefits. German Chamomile blends well with other feel-good oils like Citrus, Tea Tree, Jasmine, Lavender, and Ylang Ylang.
Hydacheim. This exotic and aromatic flower delivers a volatile oil with a sweet and spicy scent that is wonderful on its own. But it’s more than just a pleasant fragrance.
