1. Sanctifying Hand Salve

The oils used in this recipe were traditionally used for purification in spiritual ceremonies and religious rituals, and they are also natural wound healers.

  • 2 Cups Extra Virgin olive oil
  • 1 Cup of coconut oil
  • 1 Cup of beeswax pellets
  • 10 drops Frankincense essential oil
  • 10 drops Myrrh essential oil
  • 10 drops Spikenard essential oil

Directions: Using a double broiler, place the olive oil, coconut oil, and beeswax in the inner pot. Allow the mixture to melt, stirring every few minutes. Then allow to sit for a few minutes. Continue to stir until the mixture is smooth. When there are no lumps or bumps, add in all the essential oils and stir until combined.

While the mixture is warm and still of a liquid consistency, pour into small glass jars or metal tins to cool. Set aside and wait until the salves are solid before attempting to store for the next gift-giving occasion.

2. Forest Shower Fizzies

Transform a shower into a spa with these homemade aromatherapy shower steamers. They are fizzy fun!

  • 2 Cups baking soda
  • 1 Cup citric acid
  • 1 Cup arrowroot powder or cornstarch
  • 3-5 Tbsp. water
  • 5-10 drops of Spearmint essential oil
  • 5-10 drops of Clove essential oil
  • 10-15 drops Fir Needle essential oil

Directions: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, blend the baking soda, arrowroot powder, and citric acid, stirring until the mixture is smooth. Add 1 Tbsp. of water to the bowl at a time. Stop adding water when the mixture sticks together. It may still be a little dry but should pack easily into a ball.

Fill a mold (can be silicone, or even just mini muffin pans) with the mixture and push it down, compacting it into place. You will know you used too much water if they continue to fizz while drying. If this happens, simply add small amount of powder to the mix.

Drop the essential oils directly onto the molds. Let the molds dry overnight to harden. Your finished products should release easily from the molds when they are ready. If they do not fall out, they are too wet and you will have to continue to wait.

If giving as a gift, you can store them in a Mason jar and tie with a ribbon and gift tag for your loved ones!

3. Peppermint Candy Body Butter

There’s nothing like bringing the fragrances from the kitchen into your bathroom. This body butter recipe will blow your mind, and make a great gift for everyone in your life.

  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. raw organic cocoa butter
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. beeswax pellets
  • 2 Tbsp. organic coconut oil
  • 2 Tbsp. sweet almond oil
  • 4 drops Vitamin E oil
  • 20-25 drops Peppermint essential oil
  • 10-15 drops Cinnamon essential oil

Directions: Use a double broiler to melt the cocoa butter, beeswax, and coconut. Over medium heat, slowly liquefy the mixture. After they have been melted and stirred together, add the sweet almond oil and Vitamin E - then blend. Remove from heat and pour into a medium-sized mixing bowl, quickly adding the essential oils while the mixture is still blendable.

Once everything is combined, pour the melted mixture into small glass jars and allow to cool.
